Observations on Spore Morphology of Five Species of Selaginellaceae from China

Abstract

Abstract: The megaspores and microspores of five species of Selaginellaceae——Selaginella vaginata Spring,S.mairei H.Lev,S.kraussiana (Kunze） A.Br.,S.drepanophylla Alson,S.monospora Spring were observed for morphological features under scanning electron microscopy (SEM).The spore morphologies of the five species have great similarities:trilete and radial symmetry.The SEM studies showed that complex ornamentations on the surface have distinct differences in the five species.
