Numerical Simulation on Spallation Process Induced by Reflection of Stress Wave Under Different Free Faces

Abstract: Based on mesoscopic damage mechanics,numerical code RFPA2D (dynamic version) is developed to simulate the spallation failure process of inhomogeneous medium induced by reflection of stress wave,then the behaviour and mechanism of spallation process under different free faces are numerically analyzed and compared.The results show that the spallation failure process of inhomogeneous medium induced by reflection of stress wave can be simulated realistically with the code of RFPA2D.It is indicated that the spallation failure process of inhomogeneous medium induced by reflection of stress wave is concerned with not only peak value of stress wave,duration of stress wave and waveform,but also the propagation direction of stress wave.The spallation failure process occurrence under incident stress wave perpendicular to free faces is easier than that under incident stress wave inclined to free faces.The spallation failure process does not occur under incident stress wave parallel to free faces.
