Abstract: Superfine NiO powders were prepared by a homogeneous precipitation method with an aqueous solution of nickel nitrate hexahydrate and urea. The microstructure, surface morphology of NiO were characterized by thermogravimertric (TG) analysis and differential thermal analysis (DTA),X-ray diffraction (XRD),scanning electron microscope (SEM),infrared (IR) spectroscopy.Superfine NiO with particle size of 1~3 μm can be obtained by this method.NiO delivers a discharge capacity of more than 670.5 mAh/g,and the capacity loss per cycle after 80 times is only 0.031%,suggesting that superfine NiO derived from this method is an excellent anode material for lithium ion batteries.
