In terms of major settings, special sports majors in Korean universities are divided into teacher-training and non-teacher-training majors, among which, 11 universities have special sports majors, 8 are teacher-training majors and 3 are non-teacher-training majors. In terms of credit setting: teacher-training majors are required to complete 102 credits, and those who pass the grade are directly issued with special physical education teacher's certificate; non-teaching majors can take the certificate of physical education instructor for the disabled and be employed with the certificate. In terms of level settings: sports instructors for the disabled are divided into Level 1 and Level 2 instructor qualifications. The instructor qualification examination procedure includes 3 stages: written examination, interview (skills and expertise), and further study.
