Architecture，Application Status & Development Trends of Network Processors

Abstract

Abstract: Network processor possesses the traits of hardware high-speed and software flexibility,which can address network bottleneck and adapt to various new protocols,thus having perfect foregrounds.In this paper,technology backgrounds of network processors are explained and its architecture,functions and characteristics are introduced.Then,current research works and various practical applications of network processors are summed up and expounded in detail.Finally,future development trends of network processors are envisaged，and brief summary of the paper is given.
