Abstract:

Two novel crystalline inorganic-organic hybrid complexes La2K(PMo12O40)(EDTA)4 (1),Ni(PW12O40)(EDTA)2 (2) have been successfully synthesized by solution method. The compositions, structure characteristics and photochromic properties of complexes have been systematically researched by infrared spectroscopy (IR),thermogravimetric-differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA),cyclic voltammetry (CV),fluorescent spectrum (FL),ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectrum (UV-Vis DRS) energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS)and X-ray power diffraction (XRD).The two hybrid complexes display excellent photochromism:under the ultraviolet light irradiation, the color of hybrid complex 1 quickly shifts from yellow to atrovirens, and complex 2 from blue-green to black-gray.Kept in dark at room temperature, the color-changing hybrid complex 1 is stable, showing irreversible photochromism;while complex 2 returns to its original color just for 4 h in dark place. The reverse reaction of complex 2 can be accelerated by increase in temperature.Without O2 the reverse reaction of complex 2 will not happened, but in the existence of O2,complex 2 exhibits excellent reversible photochromism. It can be concluded that the two complexes are all potential optical materials for their fast-responsiveness to light.
