Abstract: By using the technique of microwave radiation, and under the catalyzing of ferric chloride, ethyl acetate can be synthesized fast. This paper investigated the effects to esterification by discussing the ratio of acid and sterols, the dosage of ferric chloride, time of microwave radiation and power of microwave. The result showed that the best reacting conditions were as follows:the ratio of acid and sterols was 3∶1(mol/mol),the dosagc of catalyst was 4.0%~5.0%(which is included in total of acid and sterols),the power of microwave was 280 W,the time of microwave radiation was 8 min.The rate of transforming may reach 89.2%.

Key words: ferric chloride, microwave, ethyl acetate
