Exploration of Anti-Aging Mechanisms of the Panax ginseng-Atractylodes macrocephala Pair Based on Network Pharmacology

Abstract: To elucidate the anti-aging material basis and mechanisms of the Panax ginseng-Atractylodes macrocephala (Ginseng-White Atractylodes) herb pair,this study utilized network pharmacology approaches.Chemical components of the herb pair were obtained from the TCMSP database,and their corresponding targets were collected using Swiss Target Prediction database.Aging-related targets were identified from GeneCards,OMIM,DiGSee,and HAGR databases.The common aging targets between the herb pair were determined using Venny 2.1.A drug-component-target-disease network was constructed using Cytoscape 3.8.2,while a protein-protein interaction network was established via the STRING database.GO function and KEGG pathway enrichment analyses were conducted using the DAVID database.Results revealed that Ginseng contains 22 active components and Atractylodes macrocephala contains 7,collectively regulating 159 targets and 171 signaling pathways with anti-aging effects;key chemical components,including kaempferol,β-sitosterol,stigmasterol,inermin,and 3β-acetoxyatractylone,mediate anti-aging effects through signaling pathways involving JUN,AKT1,TNF,CASP3,and CYP2B6.
