Abstract: By analyzing the recent research achievements at home and abroad on the surgical treatment of pterygium,the progress in surgical treatment methods,preoperative management,intraoperative management,postoperative management,and the prevention and treatment of surgical complications was explored.The surgical treatment methods mainly include pterygium excision + autologous limbal stem cell transplantation,pterygium excision + autologous conjunctival transplantation,pterygium excision + amniotic membrane transplantation,and pterygium excision + autologous limbal stem cell transplantation + amniotic membrane transplantation.Preoperative management mainly includes the auxiliary treatment with argon laser and the preservation of biological amniotic membrane.Intraoperative management mainly includes the application of femtosecond laser and the selection of suture methods.Postoperative management mainly involves the application of cyclosporine A,bandage contact lenses,and 5-fluorouracil.The prevention and treatment of surgical complications mainly involve recurrent pterygium and other complications (such as subconjunctival hemorrhage,graft edema,graft detachment,graft retraction,graft slippage,granuloma,etc.).
