Abstract: This paper first investigates the item classification of national regional distribution and the current situation of traditional sports conservation and development in 7 autonomous counties and,autonomous prefecture of Hunan Province.On the basis of improving contemporary national traditional sports’ theoretical and practical systems,this paper then explores  classification and grading ways for protecting national traditional sports,and it also points out the necessity to  establish management organization and classification systems,construct legal protection system,collect database widely for program construction,coordinate various protecting and developing mechanism and management organizations.At the mean time,this paper emphasizes  the protection and concern for the traditional sports heritage.
