Abstract:

The sol-gel preparation and characterization of Mn-based K-intercalating compounds KxMnO2 were investigated. The objected materials were obtained by calcining gel precursors of K-contained manganese citrate complexes through a sol-gel route with using KHCO3,Mn (Ac)2,and citric acid (CA) as raw materials, and the products were characterized by XRD,FTIR,and SEM.The results show that a crystal of K-intercalating compound KxMnO2 can be obtained which is cryptomelane-like in structure and has the channel structure of Mn8O16,when n(Mn)∶n(CA)=1,n(K)∶n(Mn)=0.17~0.3,and the calcining temperature is 800 ℃.The SEM image shows that the particles of this crystal compound have flake-like morphologies which are regular and flat.
