Abstract: In order to reveal the influence of medium-peak rainfall infiltration on the spatial-temporal distribution of matrix suction, the Gardner soil-water characteristic function is introduced to simplify the Richards transient unsaturated seepage equation and to establish a water transport model for a homogeneous foundation under medium-peak rainfall infiltration.Fourier integral transform is used to obtain a analytical solution of the transient matric suction during rainwater infiltration under medium-peak rainfall. The analytical solution establishes the mapping relationship between the matric suction of unsaturated foundation and the rainfall characteristic parameters, which provides a theoretical method for quickly and accurately obtaining the matrix suction and its evolution law at any position of the foundation during the infiltration process of central-peaked pattern.
