Abstract:

The effect of total saponins from Asparagus officinalis L on proliferation of human breast cancer MCF-7 cell in vitro was studied. The total saponins were extracted from Asparagus officinalis L using the method of ultrasound-assisted extraction and the drug sensitivity of human breast cancer MCF-7 cell were determined by MTT assay. When the concentrations of total saponins from Asparagus officinalis L were 150  mg/L and 350  mg/L,the proliferation of breast cancer cell was promoted. When at 750  mg/L,the proliferation of breast cancer cell was inhibited and the inhibition rate was 19.46%,and the inhibition rate with the increase of concentration. At 1  550  mg/L,the inhibition rate is the largest, reachingn 54.14%.It can be concluded that when the total saponins from Asparagus officinalis L are in low concentration,it can promote the proliferation of human breast cancer MCF-7 cell in vitro;however, high concentration has inhibitory effect and is in a dose-dependent manner.
