Abstract: A maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) and the Fisher information number of the shape parameter c from Pareto distribution based on moving ranked set sampling (MERSS) are studied. We prove existence and uniqueness of the MLE of c under MERSS,and that c carries more the Fisher information about the parameter using MERSS than that using a simple random sample (SRS).
