Abstract: High quality CdSe quantum dots were prepared in an aqueous medium with selenium dioxide as selenium source and mercaptosuccinic acid as stabilizer. And the core-shell CdSe/SiO2 nanoparticles were prepared via reverse microemulsion method. The CdSe QDs with the emission peak ranging from 531 to 554 nm could be prepared when pH was 11.0 and  nCdnSenMSA= 1∶0.2∶1.4 within 540 min,and the maximum quantum yield was 14.7%.The properties of the obtained CdSe quantum dots and CdSe/SiO2 nanoparticles were characterized by UV-vis absorption spectra, photoluminescence spectra,X-ray powder diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, respectively.
