Abstract: Base on our recent study,22 species of ferns and their companion plants in an arsenic-rich area in Hunan are reported in this paper. And the analyses on the systematic relationship, frequence and abundance, and the adaptability of these ferns are given in order to find more arsenic-accumulating ferns. The result shows that there is a little more species in Pteridoid series,Thelypteridoid-Asplenioid series and Dryopterioid series than that in the other groups. The species with higher abundance and higher frequence in the arsenic-rich area are Pteris vittata,P.multifida,Cyclosorus acuminatus and Cyrtomium fortunei. The growth relationship and the biohabits of the ferns in the arsenic-rich areas of in Shimen and other reported arsenic-accumulating ferns show that there are new arsenic accumulation in Pteridoid series.
