Abstract:

This paper presents an approach for the measurement of geometric similarity in map generalization from the point of view of geometric change.In this approach,five basic elements are first put forward,including conventional spatial distance,Hausdorff distance,Area of symmetric difference,Turning function distance and Surface distance.Quantitative indicators are further developed to measure these five elements.Finally,the implementation of the measurement of the geometric similarity is provided to illustrate the rational of the proposed approach.
